Class 12 Boy Allegedly Died By Suicide; 5th Case Of Tamil Nadu In The Last 2 Weeks

Chennai: After four suicide cases of minors and two recent cases in the last 24 hours in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, a 5th case has occurred where a 12 year old boy died allegedly by suicide on 27-July-2022.

The minor boy was found dead in his home in Sivaganga district. According to the police, the boy has left a suicide note which says that he couldn’t cope-up with his study in Math and Biology. The sudden spike in suicide cases has sparked a state wide protest in Tamil Nadu and has triggered alarming situations.

In the morning of Wednesday, another case has appeared from Sivakasi of a class 11 girl died by suicide. According to the investigators the girl suffered from chronic, severe stomach aches.

Prior to these 2 cases, 3 more cases have occurred in the state where students of class 12 died due to suicide. All of these cases has occurred in the last 5 days due to educational and peer pressure.

The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu spoke on the situation, “The suicide reports are painful. Under no circumstances must students have suicidal thoughts. Turn trials into achievements.”

He further added that tough actions will be taken against those people who are involved in sexual, mental and physical harassment of students.
