Malappuram, Kerala: Humans are said to be the most intelligent species but for a minute entertaining moments we humans become the pure evil. A worst case of animal cruelty came from Kerala’s Malappuram district which depicted the horrifying death of a helpless mother elephant.

A pregnant elephant was offered a pineapple with a fire cracker stuffed inside it. The wild elephant left the forest and was hungry. She was roaming in the village for the food, when she was offered the food she trusted the most intelligent and fatal species.

The cracker exploded in her mouth causing brutal injuries in her mouth. She walked around the village in the unbearable pain. After few hours later she walked to the River Velliyar and put her trunk in the river in a hope that the water will reduce her pain and to avoid insects and flies off from the injury.

She was so afraid of the incident that didn’t move from the river. Forest officials tried for hours and hours to rescue her. Officers also tried to get her out by the help of two other elephants but she was so stunted and frightened to come out.

She died a painful death probably thinking about her child in her womb.

After hours of pain the elephant died while standing in the river.

Later the elephant was taken back into the forest in a truck, where she was cremated by the forest officials.

The incident was reported by Mohan Krishnan on Facebook where he wrote about this grim incident.

He wrote on Facebook, “She trusted everyone. When the pineapple she ate exploded, she must have been shocked not thinking about herself, but about the child she was going to give birth to in 18 to 20 months. She didn’t harm a single human being even when she ran in searing pain in the streets of the village. She didn’t crush a single home. This is why I said, she is full of goodness.”

“She needs to be given the farewell she deserves. For that, we took inside the forest in a lorry. She lay there on firewood, in the land she played and grew up. The doctor who did her post-mortem told me that she was not alone. I could sense his sadness though the expression on his face was not visible due to his mask. We cremated her in a pyre there. We bowed before her and paid our last respects.”
